This is a nice stroller for smaller dogs (and cats). The wheels are the main problem for walkers who walk faster than a gentle stroll. This is NOT the stroller for joggers. This stroller is perfect for those who want a nice, gentle stroll on clean hard surfaces (sidewalks, streets). Any bit of gravel or roughness will cause the stroller to vibrate. The base of the stroller is hard and needs extra cushioning – a folded blanket will do the trick.

All in all, this is a decent pet stroller. Some customers have had problems with the wheels vibrating or not attaching properly. NOT a stroller for jogging, but it can withstand brisk walks nicely. The zipper is plastic, so care should be taken when zipping it. Since the cup holders are too small for most beverages, they can be used for keys and cell phones instead. The roomy storage compartment underneath can hold drinks as well as pet supplies. The stroller is not height adjustable, so it might be a little short for tall pet owners. Good value for the price.

This pet stroller has many happy customers who rave about the convenience and light weight. It’s a good stroller for dogs who suffer from arthritis or have had surgeries and is recommended for medium use. (Not heavy jogging, hiking, etc.) However, several mentioned that the pet stroller was in danger of tipping over backwards when heavier pets shifted their weight or settled in the back area. Once again, the wheels are plastic and not always reliable, either in assembly or during the walking process. The instructions aren’t clear, and the zippers are weak. Care must be taken when using the zippers or they could break.

Overall, this is a decent pet stroller for the money. The rear wheels can be secured so that the stroller won’t roll; however, as with the VIVO 4 Wheel Dog & Cat Stroller, heavier pets can possibly tip the stroller over due to the extended back of the compartment. The padded handle is comfortable to use, and the basket underneath provides plenty of space for pet supplies, toys, treats, and human necessities as well. There are two safety tethers inside to keep your furry friends safe and secure. The front window can be completely removed for a true open-air experience, and the front wheels rotate with spring suspension, giving your pets a smoother ride.

This is a pricey, robust stroller with some nice bells and whistles, including the 600 Denier water-resistant fabric, an air pump for the tires, and plenty of clear line-of-sight view for the passenger(s). It has an extra-roomy compartment and is easy to assemble. However, it’s not a streamlined stroller and takes up considerable space, even when fully closed. The main problem is with the front wheel which wobbles as soon as it goes above more than a slow walk. Though it maneuvers extremely well and the tires perform off-road, the amount of wobble prevents pet parents from jogging more than a short distance. Also, the front entrance only requires the pet be lifted higher than some owners might be able to lift. The weather cover is a nice touch, keeping the occupant(s) dry and comfortable when the weather turns nasty. If jogging isn’t your thing, this could be your perfect stroller.

This petite model is a good, solid stroller for daily use. The air-filled tires swivel nicely and make good contact with the walking surface. The size is perfect for apartment dwellers. While there aren’t a lot of frills, the basics more than suit most needs. The bonnet releases, turning the stroller into a convertible, and the under basket holds pet and parent necessities. Unfortunately, the cup holders are too shallow to hold anything more than keys or lip balm, so all beverages must be stored below. Stroller is not suitable for tiny dogs which have a problem seeing over the lower band of fabric – this is more for small to midsize dogs – and the fabric can tear at the seams if dog is too heavy. Assembly can be tricky, but the stroller is sturdy once assembled properly.

Of all the strollers we’ve reviewed, this one has some of the best wheels because they’re rubber, which provides better shock absorption than plastic. This allows the stroller to go over various terrains and not just streets or sidewalks. As with most strollers, the front mesh panel is removable. There’s a smaller mesh screen window below for smaller pets or for those who want to view the world while lying down; however, cross breeze airflow on hot summer days can be insufficient as windows are only in front . A cup holder and lower basket are also included, but the most outstanding feature on this stroller is the wheels which provide a smoother ride for the pet. The washable cushion, which is more like a tufted pillow, is also better than most on the market.

This is almost an exact duplicate of the BestPet Pet Stroller Travel Folding Carrier except that this model is a three-wheeler instead of a four-wheeler. The front wheel system can create a top-heavy issue if pet is active inside – hands-on attention is a MUST. Ventilation can be insufficient on hottest days. The cushion, like the 4-wheel model, is a nice, washable tufted pillow. Perfect for senior citizens who live in retirement communities where pets are allowed outside but not in the hallways. Not an all-weather stroller, and more suitable on smooth terrain, i.e. streets and sidewalks.

This 3-wheel model is a customer favorite. With its easy maneuverability and smooth ride, even joggers like it. It handles grass and walking trails easily. The handle is higher than most models, making it easier to guide, and the center balance is lower, preventing the common “tipping” effect of many 3-wheelers. The canopy adjusts to three positions: open, closed, and semi. The cargo basket underneath is extra large, and there’s even a small pocket on the side of the carrier. As usual, the cupholder is small, but it’s a small price to pay for a pet stroller that does away with flimsy zippers and can be opened and closed with one quick click. Though advertised for larger dogs, many customers have found that the bottom support is lacking and that their dog’s weight causes the fabric to tear at the seams. Seems to work best for dogs under 15 pounds. Needs more cushion, and doesn’t fold completely flat.

This is the sporty cousin to the Pet Gear No-Zip Special Edition 3-Wheel Pet Stroller. And no wonder – it has 12” wheels instead of the more common 6” ones. Larger wheels provide smoother rides, and this model is no exception. It comes with an air pump that fits in the roomy cargo basket underneath, along with pet toys, treats, and even the pet parent’s sweater or light jacket. It’s strange that this stroller doesn’t come with a pad for the pet – the cost certainly justifies one. The seat is hard and a pad is necessary, and with heavier pets, the seat can sag due to insufficient support. As with many 3-wheelers, stability is a concern and tipping is possible depending on the size and activity level of the pet. This is a heavier, bulkier stroller, so stair climbers beware. The locking mechanism on the front wheel can be difficult, and can loosen over time, making the front wheel less stable on rough terrain. And the ball bearings on that wheel can possibly come out, requiring replacement.

This is a nice, attractive and basic stroller which rolls smoothly on various terrains. However, the number one complaint is that the directions for assembly are extremely difficult to follow, and the product is packed very poorly and arrives in a torn or beat up box, often with parts missing. The pet compartment is very shallow, and if the animal is not tethered it can be thrown out when rolling on bumpy terrain. Not our favorite.

This is the Rolls Royce of dog strollers – an investment in your dog’s health and comfort, and worth every penny. The frame is strong and durable and can support larger breeds with ease. The padded headrest allows your fur baby a comfortable view when lying down, and the wheels are easy to remove when transporting the stroller. It can be converted to a carry kennel, useful when taking your pet to areas where a stroller might be a nuisance. If after use the front wheel starts wobbling, customer service is excellent and will replace it with an upgraded wheel. We’d give this a rating of 10 but feel that, at this price, the padded insert should be included.

This one’s a winner. Sturdy and strong yet still lightweight, this stroller lets you take your fur baby for a stroll AND lets you communicate with him/her at the same time, thanks to the reversible handlebar. It switches direction with one hand, letting you keep an eye on your pet at all times during your outing. Five stars for this pet stroller! Sturdy, yet light and easy to maneuver, this attractive gem should satisfy the pickiest pet parent. The padded inner lining is soft and comfortable – and it’s completely removable and machine washable, keeping the interior clean and sanitary. The wheels ride like butter and can handle the toughest terrain, and they’re quick to release, making them easy to clean as well. This stroller is easy to fold and store in the back of your vehicle. The zipper can be tricky to operate, but the canopy stays put without it, so some users don’t bother with the zipper at all. The weakest feature is the detachable cup holder, which is attached to the side of the frame, almost as an afterthought. It increases the width of the stroller enough to make it awkward going through narrow openings. A better option would be to purchase a separate cup holder to attach to the handlebar.

Here’s a dual-purpose stroller for those pet parents who want to get more exercise than just walking. This stroller comes with its own bicycle hitch. Walking or biking, the suspension system and shock-absorbing tires offer smooth operation on various terrains. The front opening folds up so your pet can lie down yet still enjoy the view, and in case of rain, there is a plastic cover that rolls down to cover it. Unfortunately, there is no plastic cover for the side windows, so blowing rain can still get in. We like the pockets on both sides which give more space for pet and parent necessities. This stroller will not fit through many doors, which means you need to remove the wheels. However, they pop off very easily. The same is true for transporting this stroller in a car or SUV – the wheels need to come off before it can be collapsed. Due to the 3-wheel construction, tipping can occur if the pet moves to the back.

How to Choose the Right Stroller for Your Dog
We can’t stress this enough – measure your dog before purchasing. Dogs vary in size nearly as much as humans do, and a stroller that claims to serve a specific weight may not be right for your dog’s size.
Consider whether your dog will lie down. A stroller that can handle his/her height might be too short for those times the pup is taking a rest.
Again, measure your dog, both sitting up and lying down. Do not purchase based on carry capacity (weight) alone.
Along with size/weight requirements, you’ll need to decide how a stroller will fit your lifestyle. Do you want to take leisurely strolls around the park, or do you want to power jog with your pup along for the ride? Not all strollers can handle jogging. Strollers with plastic wheels are prone to vibration when pushed at higher speeds, whereas rubber wheels, larger wheels, or strollers with front-suspension, can handle more activity.
A third point to consider when choosing a pet stroller is your physical capability. How much are you willing (or able) to carry? If you take your pet on the subway or if you are an apartment dweller, stairs might be an obstacle. If you suffer from arthritis or have other hand/muscle issues, the weight of the stroller will be critical to your enjoyment. And if you plan to transport the stroller by car or SUV, consider how much weight you’re able to lift.
Many strollers weigh in at a mere 10-12 pounds (the
Trails Lite Pet Stroller weighs 11.5 lbs) whereas strollers for larger dogs can weigh as much as 35 pounds or more (see
Stroller and Trailer w/Hitch, which weighs 37 pounds).
Analyze the climate and terrain where you plan to walk. Rough terrain requires a sturdier stroller than smooth terrain like sidewalks or streets.
How many dogs will you be taking? If you have small dogs, a larger stroller will be a necessity to give them the room they need to sit, stand and turn around when the stroller cover is closed.
Tips:
- Don’t assume your dog is going to like the stroller. Avoid putting him/her into it and then taking off on a walk. Instead, assemble the stroller and leave it where your dog can sniff and get acquainted with it at his/her leisure.
- Place the pup(s) in the stroller and wheel it around your house/apartment to acquaint them further.
Conclusion:
You may have thought you’d never be one of those pet owners who would push their dog in a stroller; but when illness or joint issues strike, that shouldn’t mean an instant prison sentence for your beloved pet. Or if your pint-sized pup can’t keep up with your long-stretch exercises, using a stroller is the best solution. No need to let your pooped pup shorten your exercise routine.
Strollers are the perfect means for keeping your furry best friend close by your side on outings when he can’t do it himself!
